We had our monthly English service with other missionary families this past Friday. Whoever is hosting the service usually tries to line up one of the adults or teens to teach a class for the children during the preaching time. Since we were the hosts this month, I decided to ask Candace to teach. She jumped at the opportunity, and ended up teaching 12 little MK's between the ages of 2 and 7. I let Deborah be Candace's helper, and now both Deborah and Emma are wanting to teach too. I told them they have to wait until they are a little older, but I am glad to see they have the desire.
Emma was too old to go to the class, and the helper slot was already taken by Deborah (much to Emma's chagrin). But Emma just could not stand the thought of Candace, Deborah, Stephen, and Gabby all being in a class without her. When I dismissed the kids for the class, I opened it up for any 8 year olds who wanted to go too, and Emma decided she just had to be in there with the rest of them!I listened in from outside the classroom, and Candace did a really good job. She told her Bible story with real excitement and passion, involved the kids with simple questions, and gave some really good applications. The children (most of them) were glued to their chairs the couple of times I peeked in. Candace said one of the children had a hard time accepting that Jonah was swallowed by a whale, because in their version he was swallowed by a dolphin!
Before the class Candace, Deborah, and Emma traced big whales on poster board and cut them out for the kids to color. There are few pictures at the end of this post.
I must say...the kids in Candace's class were some pretty good kids. And cute too!
Great job, Candace!!! I am sure the class was lots of fun. How exciting to see the joy you find in serving Jesus. There are a couple of your little cousins in Estonia that would have loved to be part of your class. Well, Sarah would have been like Emma...too big for the class, but would have jumped at the chance to be a part with everyone else.
