Seth Josiah turned one year old on August 14th. Time flies! Seems like yesterday we were in Thailand to "pick up" our special delivery package! It's been a great year. Seth is probably the most laid back baby I have ever met. He has a really warm smile and is also very ticklish. He doesn't talk yet, but he yells a lot. He crawls at lightning speed, and he just walked about 10 steps to come to daddy a few days ago. His hair is usually sticking up, but we wet it down for these pictures. He is getting a few little curls on the back of his head. I was teasing Angela saying the boy needs a haircut. When she said how cute he looks, I replied, "Do you want the boy to grow up to look like Joel Osteen?" Anyway, here are some pictures from his birthday.
This is our part-time helper, Ang (sound like hang with no "h"). The kids call her Ohm, which means an older aunt. She has worked for us for over 7 years, so she is kind of like a grandma to the kids. Every time one of them is having a birthday, she arrives for work with a little present. She bought Seth this yellow shirt and a pair of shorts. Since most of the words on clothing here make no sense whatsoever, and since Ang speaks no English whatsoever, I was really surprised at the shirt she bought. It said "Prince Charming...on his day off". Not sure if she had help, lucked out, or has been secretly studying English.
Since Saturday was so busy, we celebrated Seth's birthday yesterday, the 16th. Angela made a chocolate cake for after dinner, and as you will see by the pictures, Seth enjoyed it greatly.
Handsome birthday boy, ready for the party to start!
"Hmmm...this looks like it has potential."
"I was right! It DID have potential!"
"It's pretty cool to be one!"
These guys are different in many ways, but they both love chocolate.
"Okay, everybody...see this tray? Everything on it is all mine!"
"Got any more, Mom?"
After cake it was off to the bath to get cleaned up for some presents.
"This looks like it has potential, too!"
"Ok, Seth, I've had two birthdays. I am the expert. Pay attention and you can learn something."
Deborah gave Seth a package of yoghurt drinks, which is all of the kids' favorite drink in Cambodia.
Candace, Emma, and Stephen all went together to buy Seth a box of American Cheerios.
Mommy and Daddy gave Seth a stacking toy which he was quite impressed with!
Mommy and Daddy also gave him a riding toy, because every boy needs his own set of wheels!
His favorite part of his new car...the trunk! He couldn't get enough of opening and closing it and putting things in it.
I think my favorite one is where he is looking at his new stacking toy and he's smiling real big.
ReplyDeleteSOOO cute! I have wonderful memories of having kids those ages! What a precious gift God gave when He created the family and gave us children. Loved the pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are great! I think parents enjoy the kids' birthday as much as the kids do. It is so fun to have a day to celebrate who they are and what they like. That looks like a BIG box of cheerios. Looks good too...they are so expensive here we never buy them. Thanks for the good idea of getting them for a gift :) Those riding cars have always been a favorite in our house too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a wonderful birthday for Seth. He sure is a handsome little guy with an adorable smile. Look forward to meeting him someday. Give him hugs and kisses from Aunt Rachel.
I love that age! It's a time for exploring the world around them - though it makes Mom more tired. At least Angela has lots of help - big brothers and sisters! He is a cutie! Jonathan and Nancilynn loved the pics too!
ReplyDeleteHow Precious...he is growing so fast.... love the pics! :0)
